Frequently Asked Questions

Answering all Your Questions

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to individuals before, during, and after childbirth. They offer guidance, advocacy, comfort measures, and continuous assistance to mothers and their families throughout the pregnancy and birthing process.

Is hiring a doula only for home births or natural deliveries?

Doulas can support labor in every environment and with any interventions! Doulas can be especially helpful with epidurals by guiding you through position changes that encourage baby to descend, helping to maintain a calm and peaceful environment and providing comfort measures for the pain that is not relieved by an epidural.

Do doulas replace the partner's role during childbirth?

Of course not! A doula is there for the wellbeing of the mother and often supports the partner as well. A doula provides encouragement, breaks for the partner, and emotional support for the partner as well. Your partner is an expert in all things you! A doula is an expert in all things birth. This means together we will make a wonderful team supporting your labor and birth.
